Sterling Silver consists of 92.5% pure silver and only a small percentage of other metals, and is considered one of the finest silvers. It is a durable precious metal that’s very affordable when compared to the price of gold. It has a beautiful, luminous sheen that’s almost impossible to imitate.
Likewise, 10K gold contains 41.7% pure gold, making it the least pure, least expensive, but most durable form of gold used in jewelry. Its yellow appearance is more subtle than the rich gold tones of 14K or 18K gold.
14K gold contains 58.3% pure gold and is a great choice if you’re not sure which type of gold is best for you. It a great blend of purity, durability and value for the money. It has a classic gold appearance that is only slightly less saturated and intense than 18K.
18K gold contains 75% pure gold making it the most pure form of gold used in jewelry that is still practical. Due to its purity, 18K is one of the most expensive forms of gold and provides a very low risk for allergic reactions or skin irritation. It is less resistant to scratches, but its rich yellow appearance is incredibly attractive and looks fantastic.
Over time, exposure to oxygen and/or other chemicals may cause silver and/or gold to tarnish slightly if not properly cleaned and maintained. A little care will go a long way, and most tarnishing issues can be avoided if you keep harsh chemicals away from your grillz.
Here's what we recommend to get the most out of your grillz:
- After every use, clean your grillz with a cotton ball or a very soft cloth to remove any dust and dirt it has acquired. Gently rubbing the surface of your grillz using a soft jewelry cloth also helps restore shine.
- If your grillz needs more cleaning you may clean it with warm, soapy water. Soak it for a few minutes and you may clean it with a soft brush. Stay away from jewelry cleaners and antibacterial soaps which may have certain components that will just make your gold plated grillz tarnish more quickly.
- To avoid scratches, wrap your grillz in a soft cloth after cleaning and/or keep it in the included storage box separate from other types of jewelry you have.
